HB: COOL DO YOU GUYS WANT TO STAY FOR A WORKOUT?
BRANDON AND FUNK: NO WE CANT, WE ARE WAITING FOR OUR BUDDY SO WE CAN GO WORKOUT AT 24HR FITNESS.
HB: PERFECT, YOU GUYS GONNA GO DO SOME BENCH AND BICEP CURLS?
BRANDON AND FUNK: HAHAHA... WE WILL BE BACK FRIDAY.
HB: THINKING TO HIMSELF "THOSE GUYS ARE NEVER COMING BACK"
BRANDON AND FUNK: AFTER THEY LEFT TALKING TO EACH OTHER..."MAN THAT GUY WAS KIND OF A D*$%! CANT BELIEVE HE WAS GIVING US SO MUCH CRAP FOR GOING TO 24HR, BUT HOW THE HECK DID HE KNOW WE WERE GOING TO DO BENCH AND BICEP CURLS".
I STARTED CROSSFIT KNOWING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT. A FEW MONTHS AGO I HAD NEVER EVEN HEARD OF IT. NOW THAT I HAVE "DRANK THE KOOLAID", I COULDN'T SEE MYSELF DOING ANYTHING ELSE. CROSSFIT TO ME IS NOT JUST A WOD, ITS AN ESCAPE, A PLACE WHERE I CAN LET LOOSE AND PUSH MY LIMITS EACH AND EVERY TIME I ENTER THE BOX. I CROSSFIT NOT ONLY BECAUSE I ENJOY THE HIGH INTENSITY WORKOUT OR THE COMPETITIVE NATURE OF IT, BUT FOR THE BENEFITS OF HOW IT PREPARES ME FOR LIFE. CROSSFIT HAS GIVEN ME A MORE INCLUSIVE FITNESS THAN I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED. IT HAS ALLOWED ME TO KNOW THAT I WILL NEVER BE HELD BACK PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY. THE GREATEST GIFT OF CROSSFIT IS THAT I NOW KNOW THAT I CAN SMASH ANY OBSTACLE THAT LIFE HAS IN STORE FOR ME.
THANK YOU FALLBROOK CROSSFIT AND ALL THE AWESOME MEMBERS THAT MAKE UP THIS GREAT COMMUNITY!
" AKA BIG COUNTRY"
I started at Fallbrook CrossFit in February 2013 from some coaxing from my "better" half. Knowing that I always get bored doing the same things at a gym her selling point was "It is always different; every workout." I was intrigued and agreed to give it a go. So I went in on a Tuesday afternoon at 4 PM; which I found out later was a kids class time, that was fine they were probably in way better shape than me anyhow. Sure enough it was inspiring to see 10-13 year olds pushing themselves through their self inflicted "ceilings" with a few gentle nudges from this little stacked dude they called "Honey Badger" (Charley). The first workout for me was a "baseline"; I came away with a renewed interest in this thing called CrossFit; I saw two main things different than I had ever seen around gyms and one on one personal training (trust me; I drank the one-on-one training kool-aid) I saw a "family" atmosphere and when I say family I mean family....when some of the stronger athletes finished up they were right beside the ones still working through the "Workout of the Day" or (WOD for short) cheering them on just like a brother or sister would do for a sibling; this happens every workout to this day. Another thing I saw was the way the "technique" was taught even through the Warm-up/Skill/WOD; As trainer Charley aka "Honey Badger" puts it: "It is cool to do things perfect." Charlie is always happy to answer any questions you may ever have about a movement no matter when it comes up during the workout.
The trainers at Fallbrook Crossfit are so encouraging; not the standard "in your face" I was use to. So here I am 5 months later 38 pounds lighter in the best shape of my life. All thanks to Charley and the crew (Roman/Lacey) over at Fallbrook CrossFit. Training for "life" as we call it. Notes to CrossFit: Is it easy: NO!, Will you be sore; YES! But is it worth it: ABSOLUTLY! But as Babe Ruth put it best when he stated "It's hard to beat a person who NEVER GIVES UP."CrossFit has a strange attribute to it as well; the more you DO it the more you WANT to DO it. So come on down and start your transformation...tell them Big Country sent you.....you won't regret it.
