COACHES

Finding a coach that can meet your fitness needs AND who knows/cares about you is difficult to do. We believe that coaching is about passion, experience and connection. An athlete should feel supported, but challenged. Cared for, but held to a high standard. Most importantly, an athlete should feel that his/her journey is their own responsibility and that their coach leaves their own ego out of it.

CHARLEY McAVOY

About
Charley...

“There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.”
― Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Charles (Charley) McAvoy is a 25 year veteran of the fitness industry. He played football at the collegiate level, has competed in international IronMan Triathlons, CrossFit Competitions, Weightlifting Competitions and currently enjoys the elite sport of Ultra Running, having completed the daunting San Diego 100 Mile Endurance Race.

Charley has a unique ability to pull from his extensive background in coaching and training to motivate his clients to accomplish their goals.

His gift is taking all of our human “norms”, our societal norms, our belief systems, etc. and he challenges them. Relentlessly. Not because he is fearless in his challenging, but because he has worked a lifetime to make his curiosity and passion for living a much stronger force than his fear could ever be.

"You have to experience Charley", his clients would say. Come in and experience this Irish ball of energy who the members call  "The HoneyBadger".

SAGE BURGENER

About
Sage...

Sage Burgener is a mom of two beautiful children and a strength and conditioning coach.

She has been involved in the sport of Olympic weightlifting for 30 years. Her coaching career began at the age of 15 (19 years ago) and her love for teaching others continues to grow with each passing year.

Those who know her, know she has a deep love for training. She has spent decades throwing herself into the fire of multiple different fitness realms (Olympic weightlifting, CrossFit and ultra running) just to see what she can learn about herself.

Throughout that journey, Sage's coaching methodology has continued to grow and evolve. Her deepest goal is to continually learn and to take what she learns and pass it on to those who are like her... obsessed with exploring the depths of themselves through sport and physical feats.

The athletes she loves to coach are not the world champions, or the elite level competitors. The athletes that fuel her soul are the athletes with maturity, perspective and a deep love for training. They're the ones that know that we don't train to qualify for that one competition/race... we train to become better humans.

She mentors coaches, she coaches athletes remotely and she teaches one day Olympic weightlifting seminars. However, her deepest passion is holding her Bad Bitch Camps: a weekend fitness retreat for women where they dive deep into their physical selves so they can dive even deeper into their spiritual selves.

"The Burgener Way has always been about giving back and helping others see/reach their true potential...because that's what life is all about. That's why I'm here. And I'm here for you." - Sage Burgener
